wasn’t going to end at just fun…
When you’d had two werebears together, how could you settle for anything less ever again?
CHAPTER ELEVEN
Danni
She couldn’t stop grinning. There wasn’t a force in the world that could ruin Daniela Weaver’s day at that point, or at least she couldn’t fathom anything with the kind of strength required to put a dent in her happiness.
She was spinning around the salon like she’d been pushed into overdrive, seemingly doing everything at once and with twice the flare as usual. It really did seem that if you smiled at the world, the world would smile right back at you. Or maybe someone had just cranked the happiness level in Shifter Grove up a couple of notches… Whatever it was, Danni definitely found everything to be just so much better all of a sudden.
It didn’t take a scientist to figure out that it was her sexy pair of werebears that were to blame for it all.
She’d snuck out early in the morning, taking great care to not wake Rush and Rhett, sprawled out on the bed. It took herculean effort to make herself leave their side, but she had customers waiting, and even I she really, really didn’t want to go, she couldn’t leave her clients unhappy.
No strings attached, she thought with a grin, sated and satisfied.
Of course, the more she thought about it, the more she was certain that things couldn’t be left just as simply as that. She’d been struggling with her overwhelming emotions for days, and now, having had both Rush and Rhett at the same time, she saw that she wouldn’t have to choose, wouldn’t have to pick between adventure and soulful intelligence – she could have them both!
The thought still made her light up like a Christmas ornament. Two sexy as sin werebears, all for her? She would never have imagined that such a thing was possible!
Danni was all smiles when her next customer walked in through the door. Mama Dean looked far from her usual cheerful self. The aging mother bear took a heavy seat in Danni’s chair, seemingly a beaten woman. Even her always-bouncy gray curls seemed to droop lower.
“What are we doing today, Mama Dean? Touching up the curls?”
“Yes, sugar. Touch up the curls. Might as well look good, even if my heart is achin’ so!”
Danni frowned, her lips narrowing as she draped the sheet around Mama Dean. The bear shifter always tended to be a bit on the dramatic side, but Danni had never seen her upset at something. It was unnerving – like watching your own grandmother be unhappy. She just wanted to do anything she could to make Mama Dean happy again – just as she was!
“I’m sure things aren’t so bad,” Danni said, spritzing some product into the gray locks.
“Oh, but it is! I have told you about my baby boys, yes? Well, I think they’re makin’ a mistake now! And it’s so unlike them… Of course, they’re just boys, and trial and error comes with growin’ up, but… Oh, I don’t know. A mother’s heart worries.”
“So tell me what’s going on. Maybe we can figure out a solution together! I’m no bear whisperer, but you don’t get to work as a hairdresser without picking up some great ideas here and there,” Danni offered, fussing with the hair.
Mama Dean gave another long, sorrowful sigh before beginning.
“They came back home because they made a promise to their father that they don’t want to break. But now, I think they’re getting’ into some kind of a mess with some woman. I think she was goin’ to choose one of them, or spirits knows what. Anyway, both my boys have been seein’ the same girl and that wily little thing has been playin’ them. I bet it’s for the money. It doesn’t take much to Google my boys and find out that they’re worth billions.”
Mama Dean huffed and Danni frowned, chewing the inside of her lip. That sounded like a horrible situation to be in and she could certainly understand Mama Dean’s worry for her boys. No mother should have to see her
