father because I needed to know what I could do.
"Mr. Davis?  Yeah, I know she is on the phone with your wife. It's you I want to talk with, and I don't want Alexandria to know. So when are you planning to tell your daughter about your diagnosis?"
"What the fuck? How did you find out?"
"It's not important how I know, but she needs to know."
"No, she doesn't. I don’t want her upset too. My wife is barely standing with the news. I don't want Alex hurt by the news."
"Well, what do you need to get better?"
    "Son, mind your business."
"It is my business. Alexandria is going to be my wife, and I don't want her hurting at all."
I explained to him that his health was more important than the money. I didn't want anything to mar our relationship, and keeping this a secret from her I was sure would do that.
"I will tell her soon. Just keep your mouth shut."
"Well you better, or I will. You need to walk her down the aisle, and I am going to ask her soon."
I hung with him after he gave me more shit about helping him out, but I told him it wasn't for him because I didn't know the motherfucker. It was for Alexandria.
After I hung up, I called Patricia. "Hey. I need you to look up the best hospitals for cancer treatment." I heard her gasp on the other end. "Don't worry. It isn't me. It's Alexandria's father. I need the best. No, it is going good, and she is as sweet as they come. By the way, keep your paws away from her. I don't need her switching sides on me."
She said she couldn't wait to meet my girl, and for some reason, I was worried. I wondered if I was going to turn into a jealous ass all of the sudden. It sure as hell looked like it.
"Have you had any information on the stalker?" Patricia said on the other end.
"No, I haven't. They have reviewed the surveillance footage, and it cuts off just as the package enters my office."
"Well, you better make sure that your girl is well protected. The girl could be jealous and take out her competition."
"Shit. I didn't think of that shit. I am on it." I needed to get a couple of guys to follow Alexandria when me or my guy were not around, though I was not going to tell her about them. I didn't want her to be scared or afraid.
I left the room and went to find my girl. She was still on the phone, so I grabbed it out of her hands.
“Hello, Mrs. Davis. Sorry, but it is time for Alexandria to go to bed. Yes, okay well, she will call you tomorrow. Goodnight.”
“Why did you do that?” she said, outraged.
“Did I not say it was time for bed?” I winked at her.
“Am I going to sleep, or am I just going to bed?”
“You will not be getting any sleep tonight, princess.”
I loved her all night. We only got out of bed to shower in the early hours of the morning. I had to go back to the office, and I didn’t like that shit. I didn’t want to leave her. This was when we had our first argument.
“I want you to stay inside today until I get home from work.”
    “Isn’t it nice to want?”
“Okay, smartass. I am telling you to stay inside until I get home.”
“Not going to happen. I have to go talk to Dr. Phelps about getting my job back.”
“You are not going back to work there. I don’t want you working anywhere near the fucked-up pervert.” I was dead serious about that.
“Yes, I am. Dr. Reeves left yesterday, according to Dr. Phelps.”
“I don’t give a shit. You don’t need to work.”
“Please stop while you’re ahead. I may have given you my virginity, but I am not your wife.”
“Not yet. I am just looking out for you.” I pulled her into my arms. “How about you go with Kara and Marcus? I still don’t want you to work at all.”
    “I need money, you know.”
“What did I say to you when we were getting ice cream? For now on, you do not pay for anything. I meant that. If you want to work just to get out of the house, then fine, but only part time, okay?”
    “Fine. You win this round.”
“Here is some money for now. I will put
