would surely anger the Americans and the aid would stop.
Nayyaf shook his head. He had to act now. It was sooner than he would have liked, but he couldn’t risk the fallout. America was also in the middle of an uncertain future. The presidential elections were coming up and the new administration may not be the friend they had always counted on and pillaged. The other side of the American political aisle wanted to end all support for the Global War on Terror. That would not be in Nayyaf’s best interest.
Nayyaf was eager to get to his meeting in an unknown village, Corpus Christi. It was near Houston. This next week would be grueling but rewarding. Nayyaf was walking a tightrope and getting caught would be the end of his career and quite possibly his life.

“Amy! That book came in that was on reserve,” Lynn said.
“Which one? We have all kinds of kinds of books on reserve. Put it on the shelf so we can call the patron,” Amy said, turning back to the inventory she was reviewing.
“I think you want to call this patron,” Lynn said with a wide smile.
Amy looked up from her work. “What are you talking about?”
“Presidential Orders,” Lynn said, waving the book. “Was put on reserve by Gavin Walsh.”
“Oh, yeah. I can give it him tomorrow. We’re going out to dinner.”
“Why don’t you take it to him? You know, drop by for visit. Have a drink…have some really hot sex…”
“Lynn! I don’t think that’s happening.” Amy gasped.
“Not if you won’t let him touch you! Damn, Amy! You’ve been seeing him pretty regular like.”
“I’ve been seeing him for two weeks! Don’t you think it’s a little soon?” Amy asked incredulously.
“Not for him. Honey, he’s been seeing you for two weeks, that’s a committed relationship for a guy like that. He’s probably used to getting laid the first date. He must really like you,” Lynn said, shaking her head.
“I’ll call him and tell him it’s here,” Amy said, holding out her hand for the book.
Amy placed the book on her desk and went back to the page she was reviewing. She wasn’t sure how Gavin truly felt about something like that. He was always very gentlemanly. Tim had been the same way. She wondered what Gavin would do if she made such a forward advance. Gavin had called her earlier, but she hadn’t had a chance to return his call. She looked at the book resting on her desk. What should I do?

Gavin heard the knock just as he turned off the shower. He had tried calling Amy at the library earlier to see if she wanted to go out for dinner. He had been so tied up with this new case that he had not been able to spend that much time with her. She hadn’t called back, so he figured she was busy. Since it was still early he had planned on going back to see if she was closing the library today. He heard the knock again. He rubbed a towel quickly over his body and threw on the sleep shorts that hung in his bathroom. He reached the door and opened it quickly. It was Amy.
“I’m sorry. I can come back another time,” Amy said, backing away.
“No, it’s okay. Come in.” Gavin opened the door wider.
Amy stepped inside the doorway and paused a moment. Gavin turned and smiled at her.
“Can I get you something?” Gavin asked as he continued to dry himself.
Amy’s sudden appearance at his small apartment had been a very pleasant surprise. Being so shy, this was a very forward move for her.
“No, thank you. I brought the book you had on reserve.” Amy held out the book. “I got your message and just thought I would come by and drop this off on my way home…”
“Thanks.” Gavin stepped closer to her and took the book.
Amy blushed and looked down. There was something different about this blush and the way she looked away. Gavin put the book down and lifted
