again.” He grabbed my hand and looked as if he wanted to cry.
“He won’t touch me.” I lied again.
“I already said I won’t risk it.” He stared at me with a firm look on his face. I felt my mind racing. I couldn’t let Lee know about Allen . Lee knew people and I also knew he wouldn’t hesitate to kill him as well. There was no way. “Fine,” I finally got out. “I will be out of here probably around a little after midnight.” I lied for a third time. I knew I would be out earlier.
He just smiled at me. “I’m gonna take care of you.”
I just gave a sad smile back and shut the door leaving my bag in his truck and headed into the diner.
As I walked into the diner and Al gave me a funny look. “You’re not scheduled today.”
“Oh I must have forgotten… D id you need anyone extra?”
“No sorry Eve go on get back home and rest some, you look exhausted.”
“Ok thanks. See ya later Al.” I waved to Jenny on my way out. As soon as the door closed I felt tears coming out of my eyes. This is not going as planned. He isn’t even home I reminded myself. I needed to calm down. I shook off my nerves and headed home. I’m just gonna get my clothes and money together then call Allen and get the hell out of there. Screw this whole facing Lee plan I just wanted to be back with Allen.
I started to see my house appear in the distance and felt myself walking faster. I just wanted to get in and out as fast as possible. I made it to the door and realized Lee’s truck was here. But that can’t be right I thought. Maybe one of his buddies brought it over. I went to unlock the door and realized it was already unlocked. I felt my heart drop and vomit in my throat. Oh shit I thought. I was about to turn and just start running but the door opened and in front of me was a drunken pissed off Lee.
“How was work, sweet-heart?” He asked me while slurring his words. He smelt like puke and whiskey. I made my stomach churn more. I still couldn’t form words from the shock of him even being here. He seemed annoyed with my silence and pulled me into the house by my hair and slammed the door shut behind us.
“Where were you this weekend?” he asked me.
“I was working.” I stared at the floor avoiding eye contact with him.
“Don’t you fucking lie to me!” He forced me to look him in the face. “I’ve been here since Saturday and you haven’t come home, noy once.” He spat in my face. I felt my knees give out and I was on the floor in shock. He took this as confirmation of me knowing exactly what he talking about. All I could think was to run but Lee still had my hair firmly in his grip. “Yeah that’s right you little bitch, you didn’t think I would get out did you?” I was still silent. I couldn’t get my mind to comprehend all this through the fear that was taking over me. “Were you planning on leaving again?” He shook my head by my hair. I cried out in pain
“No Lee!” Tears started streaming down my face.
“Then where were you?”
I didn’t have an answer. “Please Lee, just calm down.”
“Don’t tell me to calm down you cheating little whore.”
“I wasn’t Lee, please! ”
“Oh and it gets better.” He said with a nasty sarcastic grin on his face. “While you were out fucking around I decided to take some time to look around the house to see if I could find out where you went.” He then pulled my hair even tighter and got right in my face. “Do you wanna know what I found?” he asked. Without giving me a chance to answer he forced me up and walked me to the bedroom. The bottom drawer to the dresser was pulled out and spread across the room was everything I had saved. I felt the air in my lungs escape me and I was having problems pulling in more. I couldn’t believe this nightmare that was spreading out before me. I started to feel real fear. I had never been in this deep with Lee before. I felt the blood drain from my face; I started to think about what I could
