quickly concluding that there is absolutely nothing I can do. The only way this situation will be solved is if Derek moves on or Julian and Derek fight once and for all. There is a possibility that Derek will never find us in the first place. That is my one hope.
I finish off my cocktail and feel a sudden tiredness hit me. “I’m tired, can we go back to our suite?”
Julian takes me back to our suite and we get into bed.
I am feeling really buzzed and I’m in the mood, but it appears that Julian is in no mood for sex. He holds me close. I am probably more insatiable than Julian.
I clos e my eyes, tired and ready to fall asleep, but as I am laying in Julian’s arms I suddenly feel so anxious. My minds starts racing.
I pop my eyes open and stare aimlessly into the dark room. Suddenly, inexplicable fear grips me. I’m scared that at any minute Derek will come and rip me away from Julian.
Though t after thought invades my mind. Derek’s attempt to get me back is futile since I don’t love him anymore and I never will. If Derek does get me back, what is his plan? Will Julian really kill Derek if they fight again? Or will Derek kill Julian?
I’m tired but I can’t sleep. My mind is running wild.
“You okay?” Julian suddenly interrupts my thoughts. “You’re breathing heavy.”
    “Yes. I’m fine.”
“I hope you don’t have any doubts about my ability to protect you.”
“Of course not,” I respond emphatically.
“Derek has no chance.” Julian grips his muscular arms around me tighter and kisses the top of my head.
I recall the first fight and know f ull well that Julian is very powerful and if anything happens, it will be Julian incapacitating Derek.
I relax into Julian’s chest and finally fall asleep.

    CHAPTER EIGHT

Julian awakes me early in the morning. I blink my eyes open. I’m feeling sleepy and don’t feel like getting up. Julian is wearing a black suit, a black shirt, and a black tie.
“ I have some business to conduct this morning and I’d like you to come with me and help me make the final decision.”
“What kind of business?” I mumble, wanting to close my eyes and go back to sleep for even a few minutes longer.
“I’ve decided to purchase a new property in Dubai. I want to go and take a look to make my final decision about a 60,000 square foot villa on the Palm Jumeirah.”
Julian and I get dressed, have breakfast, and are taken to the property by our private driver.
As soon as I lay my eyes on the property, my jaw drops. The contemporary mansion is crafted in glass and steel with vast floor to ceiling windows overlooking the sea.
A man is a lavish suit greets us by the entrance and takes us through the mansion. We view eight bedrooms, eight bathrooms, two family rooms, two study areas, a basement cinema seating up to seventy people, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a sauna. There are magnificent 180-degree sea views, private beach access, and gardens.
“Parking?” Julian asks after we’ve viewed the whole space.
“Space to park twenty cars," the man answers simply.
Julian turns to me. “Your unfiltered opinion, Cheryl.”
    “I love it,” I respond.
“I’ll make you an offer,” Julian tells the man.

Our private driver takes us to Dolphin Bay. Julian has planned for us to go swimming with dolphins.
We are swimming in swallow water with two beautiful female dolphins. We pet them and talk to them. I hold onto one as she takes me for a ride around in the water. The experience is amazing and Julian appears satisfied that I am enjoying myself.
After having lunch, we go to see Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, at 2,722 feet. The elevator very quickly shoots us up to the top.
The view from the top of the building is breathtaking. Julian holds me close as we gaze out over Dubai—it looks a miniature model city. I feel exhilarated. I feel like I’m on top of the world—after all I am on top of the tallest building in the world
