with her. “Do you want me to leave?”
“No.” The word came so fast and with such conviction that he had no doubt she meant it. “Do you want to spend the night?”
“I hoped you’d ask.” He stood and closed the distance between them. Standing over her, he stared down into the swell of her full breasts. “I thought you might be having some regret over—”
“I’m not.” She rose, locked her gaze onto his and her stance relaxed. “I don’t regret a single moment of it.”
Probably his imagination. His mother always told him he was too sensitive. He glanced at the clock on the mantle. Not quite nine p.m. “I know it’s still early, but what do you think of taking a nap? Maybe get up later and…” Circling his arms behind her, he grabbed a handful of her generous backside and squeezed. “Have an encore?”
She threw him a wicked grin. “Perfect.”

    Chapter Four

Macy lay awake and listened to Alex’s steady breathing beside her. She glanced at his profile, illuminated by the candlelight from the votive on her night table. Her body felt more completely satisfied than it had in ages. Yet she couldn’t help but wonder if she’d made a mistake by having a fling with Alex. Her instincts about men were obviously flawed. As many times as she’d seen movies or read novels about cheating husbands and heard friends and coworkers discuss ex-husbands they’d caught screwing around, she should have known about Warren.
When the wife had no clue, Macy had always rolled her eyes at their obvious lack of intuition. She’d have known. She’d have seen the signs they’d missed. But she’d had no idea of Warren’s prolific cheating. How could she have been that blind? That stupid?
Alex stirred. He rolled toward her and threw an arm across her. “What time is it?” His voice sounded hoarse from disuse.
A minute after she’d checked the last time. “About two-thirty.”
He sat up, stared down at her and she noticed a web of lines fanning out from the corners of his eyes. “You didn’t sleep at all, did you?”
    She shook her head.
    “Thinking about my father?”
    Yes.
“No. Just not tired, I guess.”
“Do you mind if I take a shower? It’s been a long day.”
“Course not. The towels on the rack are clean.” She gestured toward the bathroom.
“I have an idea for when I get out.” He waggled his eyebrows.
She rose onto her elbows and grinned. “Oh?”
“You look stiff, like you need a backrub.” He smiled and those handsome dimples came out. “And I happen to give a damn fine one.”
Warren had hardly ever rubbed her back, something he knew she absolutely loved. Her stomach did a little flip. “I’m a total sucker for a massage.”
Alex planted a quick kiss on her neck. “All I ask is that you stay awake until I come back.”
“Easy enough.” She took the opportunity to wash up in the guest bathroom. When she returned to her bedroom, she heard Alex shut off the shower. Quick as she could, she grabbed a bottle of massage oil from a drawer and set it on the night table. She stripped off her towel and sneaked under the covers, anticipating a long, slow backrub.
Alex appeared naked in the doorway, hair glistening with moisture. She slid her gaze over him, drank in the broad shoulders, six-pack abs and long, lean legs. His cock sprang to life under her gaze. As he strode toward the bed, renewed desire swirled inside her.
Grabbing the corner of the sheet, he ripped the covers away. Macy giggled as she held open her arms to him. He climbed on top of her, lowering his lips to hers and giving her a slow, sweet kiss. He tasted like her minty toothpaste and smelled like her soap. Familiar, yet new and exciting.
She shut her eyes, luxuriating in the lush sensation of his skin next to hers. When she touched her hands to his hair, she was surprised at how soft it felt. He trailed his tongue over her neck and nibbled her skin, his touch gentle and caring. She sensed a warmth in
