"Sure." She patted her pocket with her free hand. "I'll go right there."
"Good. He'll help you find out what's going on. And I'll fly out in two days. If I could come any earlier, I would."
We both knew I couldn't just leave the country. I needed to go to the police, not let them find me, and try to sort out the mess with Amjad. It was tempting to just fly out of there before they put an All-Ports Notice on me. Part of me thought it would be the sensible thing to do.
But it would obliterate my life and my past and I wouldn't be able to return to the UK - ever. I wasn't ready to make such a snap decision.
Time slipped through our fingers. She had to check-in and it wasn't long before her flight was called. I remained in the concourse, watching the display boards, the yellow notices flicking up and flicking past.
I was stupid. I was letting her fly out of here, without me.
