and grenades were exploding as they made it to the exit and he left the plastic bomb in the entrance as they left.
By then firing and explosions could be heard from the rear of the building. Just then they began receiving fire from guards coming out of the adjacent building. Goldie yelled fan out and attack as he charged straight at the guards firing as he went. Mac was on his right firing and the other members of the team were charging the guards. Tim and his men came around the building firing as they came. Within moments the dozen or so guardsmen were disposed of except for a couple that were only wounded. Goldie picked up one of his men who had fallen and yelled it’s done pull back to the cars. Mac was helping one of his men and Tim gave Goldie a hand as they ran thru the trees to their cars. Everyone was counted for as they entered their vehicles and started off. Goldie and Mac were in the lead vehicle Mac looked back and said Christ I think the back wall fell in and the roof collapsed. One of the men said it looks like the whole dam building is on fire now. Goldie told the driver turn right next exit and the other vehicle followed close behind. A few moments later they exited east and soon were out of town and going thru a rural area.
Mac asked the medic assisting the two wounded men how they were? The medic said both would be ok, flesh wounds, and looks worse than they are. Mac reached and turned on the radio to see if anything was being reported yet. A state broadcaster was reporting there has been a terrible explosion at the governor’s mansion while an important meeting was taking place. Emergency crews and law enforcement officials are at the scene but no information is available at this time. Mac asked have you got the men fixed up and the medic said no problem they will fight again. Some thirty minutes later they were going thru the city of Circleville and Goldie said turn right next exit that takes us back to Clinton county. Just then the state newscaster said a terrible tragedy has happened in Columbus, Ohio. Bombs planted by terrorists have destroyed the governor’s mansion.
The announcement said our governor and the governors from seven surrounding states have been murdered by a cowardly attack at the governor’s mansion. Many others have been killed and wounded including several United Nations military observers, state police officers, and National Guard troops. The state spokesman said we have just been informed that terrorist attacks were also carried out in Phoenix Arizona, St. Louis Missouri, and Philadelphia Pennsylvania where government officials were holding meetings. These terrible attacks have taken the lives of the governors of thirty-six states and killed and wounded scores of United Nations officials and National Guard troops. The broadcaster said this is the work of organized terrorists trying to undermine the efforts of our leaders to restore peace to our nation. Rewards will be paid for information about these terrorists’ organizations.
The captain and others were successful in their operations too. Goldie said lets go on back to camp and wait for Richard to contact us. As they drove past snow hill and thru Vienna not a sign of state or federal officers was seen. They proceeded on to their camp area without incident and after checking their supplies they built a small fire then opened their field rations and sat down to rest, and relax. After a time Goldie told Tim he was the only one who had family in the area and with all the federals having left it should be safe for him to visit his family. Tim said sounds good to me but I don’t like to leave while the rest of you can’t. Mac and the men said don’t worry about that take off while you can. Tim said well ok he would call later to check in.
That evening Tim called back and said he had talked to James and Joshua and let them know you guys are all ok. He said the radio has been going crazy all day. By the way, my wife said
