sir.”
    He
returned to the same tree I met him at earlier.
    “I’d
love for you to come over, but I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable.”
    “I
really do want to come over but, Jake.”
    “Tell
you what, I’ll go check things out, and then I’ll come back and get you if it’s
safe.”
    “Okay.”
    I
watched him closely as he disappeared into the night. I locked the doors and
slid back into the driver’s seat of my car. After a few moments, I saw a figure
emerge from the shadows. Clutching the wheel I slowly shifted the gear in
drive, prepared to hit anyone that wasn’t Allan. Then I saw his perfectly white
teeth reflect off the light from my high beams. I unlocked the door and let him
back inside.
    “He’s
not home, so you coming over?”
    “Sure.”
I drove around the corner, but parked in front of the house so I could escape
quickly, if needed.
    “Do
you have something more comfortable I could change in to?”
    “Sure,
search my closet for whatever you need.”
    I
snagged an extra large white t-shirt from the hanger and strip down to my bra
and panties, quickly tossing it over my head. He stripped down into his blue
Hanes. I lay down in his bed and he slid in behind me, placing his arms tightly
around my body. I anticipated him ripping his shirt off of me and sending me in
to ecstasy, but tonight was different, he just held me real close.
    “Are
you alright, Al?”
    “Yea,
I just like the feel of your soft skin against mine.”
    I
broke free from his hold to roll over and face him, losing myself in his sleep
filled green eyes. Our beautiful moment was abruptly interrupted by loud thuds
against the front door.
    “What
in the hell, hang here I’ll be right back.”
    A
man with a very deep voice yelled, “Open up, this is the police!”
    “Shit,
Al what did you do?”
    “Trust
me, I’m not the one they’re here for.”
    He
pulled his robe off the back of the door and went to meet the cop at the front
door. I peered around the door frame to attempt to hear what was going on.
    “Sorry
to bother you sir, but are you Jake Shaw?”
    “No,
that’s my brother, what’s going on?”
    “We
believe your brother may be in some trouble.”
    “What
kind of trouble?”
    “A
young woman is accusing him of sexual assault.” I watched as the pigment slowly
faded from Al’s skin.
    “Sexual
assault? That doesn’t sound like my brother at all. I’ve never heard of him doing
anything like this, ever.”
    “I
know sir, but sometimes loved ones do things we never think they are capable of
doing.”
    A
huge knot formed in the pit of my stomach, and a sudden bout of nausea hit me.
I wondered if he may have hurt an innocent girl because he couldn’t have me.
    “Is
he here by any chance?”
    “No,
he’s not.”
    “Well
if you see him, have him give me a call. My name is detective Dave Marshall and
my numbers on the card. Don’t worry he’s not going to get arrested, but we do
need to bring him downtown for questioning.”
    “Okay.”
    While
walking backwards into the room, I clumsily fell onto the bed, waiting for Al
to come back and fill me in on what happened.
    “Jake
is in some deep shit.”
    “So
I heard.”
    “Are
you alright Ice? You’re looking mighty pale.”
    “I,
uh yeah, I’m fine. I just feel for that girl that’s all.”
    “You
think he actually did it? Jake may be many things but he’s far from a rapist.”
    “You
do know him better than I do, but the bruises you still wear on your knuckles
say otherwise.”
    “You
know what Alecia, I think you should go.”
    “Are
you serious right now?”
    “Very.”
    I
ripped his shirt over my head and threw it in his face.
    “You
look so sexy when you’re angry Ice, calm down I was only joking.” He grabbed my
waist playfully to help calm me down.
    “That’s
not funny; I thought you really turned on me for a minute.”
    “Alecia
Moore, I could never turn my back on you, you’ve showed me there’s more than
just sex with a girl,
