    I also include the raw data, organized by half century. The reader can thus assess for himself or herself the accuracy of my conclusions.
    Numbers of Cities for Which Regime Type Data Are Available
    FIRST HALF OF THE SEVENTH CENTURY
    There is regime-type information for 28 different cities: Amathous, Argos, Athenai, Axos, Epidauros, Idalion, Istros, Kolophon, Korinthos, Kourion, Kroton, Kyme (in Italia), Lampsakos, Lapethos, Lokroi, Marion, Metapontion, Paphos, Paros, Rhegion, Salamis, Samos, Sikyon, Soloi, Sparta, Sybaris, Syrakousai, Taras. There is regime-type information for ten (out of thirty-nine) 1 different regions: Cyprus, Argolis, Attica, Crete, Black Sea Area, Ionia, Megaris-Korinthia-Sikyonia, Italia and Kampania, the Aegean, Propontic Coast of Asia Minor.

    OLIGARCHY
    Thirteen cities are known to have experienced oligarchy: Athenai, Epidauros, Istros, Kolophon, Korinthos, Kroton, Kyme (in Italia), Lokroi, Metapontion, Paros, Rhegion, Sybaris, Syrakousai. Thus 46 percent of the cities for which there is regime-type information experienced an oligarchy.
    Eight different regions contained at least one city governed by an oligarchy: Attika, Argolis, Black Sea Area, Ionia, Megaris-Korinthia-Sikyonia, Italia and Kampania, the Aegean, Sikelia. Thus 21 percent of the regions contained at least one city that was governed by an oligarchy.
    TYRANNY
    Two cities are known to have experienced a tyranny: Korinthos, Sikyon. Thus 7 percent of the cites for which there is regime-type information experienced a tyranny.
    One region contained at least one city governed by a tyranny: Megaris-Korinthia-Sikyonia. Thus 3 percent of the regions contained at least one city governed by a tyranny.
    KINGSHIP
    Twelve cities are known to have been governed by a king: Amathous, Argos, Axos, Idalion, Kourion, Lampsakos, Lapethos, Marion, Paphos, Samamis, Samos, Soloi. Thus 43 percent of the cities for which there is regime-type information were governed by a king.
    Five regions contained at least one city governed by a king: Cyprus, Argolis, Crete, Propontic Coast of Asia Minor, Ionia. Thus 13 percent of the regions contained at least one city governed by a king.
    DEMOCRACY
    There is no evidence for democracy in a Greek polis during the first half of the seventh century.
    SECOND HALF OF THE SEVENTH CENTURY
    There is regime-type information for forty-one different cities: Amathous, Apollonia, Argos, Athenai, Epidamnos/Dyrrhachion, Epidauros, Erythrai, Idalion, Istros, Kolophon, Korinthos, Korkyra, Kourion, Kroton, Kyme (in Italia), Kyrene, Lampsakos, Lampthos, Leontinoi, Leukas, Lokroi, Marion, Megara, Metapontion, Miletos, Mytilene, Olbia/Borysthenes, Paphos, Paros, Rhegion, Salamis, Samos, Sigeion, Sikyon, Soloi, Sparta, Sybaris, Syrakousai, Taras, Tenedos, Thera.
    There is regime-type information for sixteen (out of thirty-nine) different regions: Cyprus, Black Sea Area, Argolis, Attika, the Adriatic, Ionia, Megaris-Korinthia-Sikyonia, Akarnania, Italia and Kampania, Syria to the Pillars of Herakles, Propontic Coast of Asia Minor, Sikelia, Lesbos, the Aegean, Troas, Lakedaimon.
    OLIGARCHY
    Twenty cities are known to have experienced oligarchy: Apollonia, Athenai, Epidamnos/Dyrrhachion, Epidauros, Erythrai, Istros, Kolophon, Korinthos, Kroton, Kyme (in Italia), Leontinoi, Lokroi, Megara, Metapontion, Olbia/Borysthenes, Paros, Rhegion, Samos, Sybaris, Syrakousai. Thus 49 percent of the cities for which there is regime-type information experienced an oligarchy.
