Fae Dominance
chance to hold our babe in my arms, I would kneel down before the lucky bastard and offer him my thanks.”
Muffled gasps rang out, giving thanks to someone in their world indebted the giver to the receiver. It was a debt the magic made sure was repaid.
Robin waved them away, and with a respectful bow they disappeared into the crowd.
“My Lords,” the intrepid bartender cleared his throat. He nodded to the hourglass to let us know our hour was up. “The time has run out, if you wish to fulfil your wager, then the moment is upon you.”
“Of course, my good man, you are indeed an excellent witness to keep us in our stride.”
I thought the poor bloke was going to pass out when Robin grabbed him by the shoulder pulling him close.
“I would have your name, boy. One day I might wish to call upon you again.”
“Daffyd,” he choked. He managed to clear his throat and repeat his name in a stronger voice. “Daffyd, my Lord. It has been an honor to serve you.
“Not many Welsh names this side of the mounds, Daffyd, if I had more time I would be curious.” From the sick look on the man’s face, curiosity from the Puck was not a welcome thought.
“Right, Faery,” I grabbed Robin's arm and pulled him up. It’s time for you to leave Daffyd alone and finish this wager. Let us see who can make it to the doors in a straight line. I’m going to enjoy winning.”
We were both on our feet and facing the door. A line of intrigued Fae stood on either side making a path for us. They had even created a dividing line of flower petals to mark our lanes.
I looked over at my competition and grinned. “No worries, Robin, I won’t hold this over you forever. Just the next fifty years or so,” I winked.
Oh, bloody hell, me, and my big fucking mouth. Robin stood up straight, his eyes cleared and pure wickedness danced in his eyes.
“Oh, puppy, hell it is,” he laughed and we began to walk the line.
I had almost made it, half a dozen feet and I would have been home free. But damn my inebriated brain, I had already started to think of Dia in our bed. Naked and waiting for me. Then the image of Robin and Daniel joined her, followed by the four of us in bed. Rolling, tasting, and loving. I stumbled.
Robin had matched my pace step for painful step. I could not believe I had fallen for his drunken act. It had relaxed me enough that I did not even try to pace my drinking. Now I was going to pay.
When I stumbled, he caught me and pulled me into his arms.
Daffyd, the ever-faithful witness stood by. “My Lord Puck is the victor. It is my duty and honor to pay witness to this. Is there agreement?”
Once again, the spectators rose up in one voice. A definite “YES” filled the room.
I looked at Robin and mumbled, “I guess I’m going to hell for my sins then?”
“Oh you have no idea, puppy, you have no idea. First, I think a touch of heaven is warranted though.”
The Fae in the room had backed away at this point and gone back to their own pursuits. However, they did watch us covertly as Robin led the way to the two doors.
I still had no idea which one led where, but no one seemed to show preference to one or the other. Believe me, I had watched the last hour as people came and went from them.
All I could do was follow and hope for the best. I was just glad I still had the Fae wine coursing through me. Even though I was not falling down drunk, the laid back feelings running through me were enough to keep me calm and relaxed while the king of mischief led me to door number one.
“Come with me, Kale, I want to show you something.”
Now you could not tell me that was not intimidating. We had went through the left door but I still have no idea which one was Heaven and which one Hell.
The hallway was not big enough to walk side by side, and it was dark enough that even with my enhanced vision I needed to walk slowly.
    “Heaven or Hell,” I questioned.
“Ahhhhh, but that would ruin the surprise, puppy," Robin
