Mani ran down and looked at her while shaking his head.

    I heard the voice but everything seemed as if it was in a clouded haze and suddenly I was back in the car with Ryan on that rainy night when we had to dispose of my Father’s body. I sat there tracing the heart on the window and it turned from rain to blood streaks as I turned to Ryan and saw his face in red.
    He leaned in and kissed me slowly as his lips parted mine and his tongue played with me as it often did. One thing I loved about Ryan was his ability to kiss like it was the last time, every time. It was something I am sure every woman he had seduced was haunted by. I then pulled back and it was no longer Ryan, it was now Mani who stared at me and the blood started to seep from a small bullet hole in his forehead, just as it had from Miko. I reached up and tried to stop it from bleeding but I then realized he was smiling as if he was happy.
    “It’s not like you ki lled someone,” he said to me and I then placed the gun at my own head and shot it. I opened my eyes up and saw Mani leaning over me.
    “You did not kill her,” h e said to the woman who had knocked me senseless and I moaned as I tried to sit up.
    “Just lay st ill,” he said and I grinned at him as I reached up and touched his face.

    Chapter Ten
    Near Death

“Beth!” Ryan said loudly as he entered the room and ran to my bed. He picked up my hand and then kissed it until he noticed Mani standing off to the side. He turned to him and narrowed his eyes.
    “You,” h e said as he stepped forward and the doctor stepped in between them.
    “She is not suffering from anything serious.”
    “Oh sure,” he said as he turned to see the IV in my arm.
    “I am not Ryan, I got knocked out.”
    “Knocked out?”
    “Yes, ” I said as I placed my hand on my head and adjusted myself on the bed.
    “What the hell?” he asked and Mani stepped forward.
    “Beth came to my self-defense class and got a beat down.”
    “A beat down, what the fuck does that even mean?” Ryan asked him.
    “She was sparring with one of my students.”
    “I want t o know who it was, we are suing,” he said as he pointed a finger at him.
    “No…no one is suing anyone Ryan,” I said behind him and he turned to me.

    “I am serious Ryan, shut the fuck up,” I said and Mani laughed, Ryan turned and stared him down.
    “Oh it is hilarious. My wife is lying in a hospital bed.”
