the blackness of space. It was both disconcerting and
strangely beautiful.
The man who rose from the helm was beautiful,
just as he’d been in the fantasies and memories that Kyr had shared
with her. Lexian’s blonde hair was long, hanging to his broad
shoulders. There was an arrogance in his stride as he moved toward
them. He didn’t say anything, simply embraced Kyr quickly and then
turned to her. Memories flooded her. All the love and trust that
the two had shared over the years, not just from Kyr’s memories,
but also from Lexian’s, filled her. She also felt something else.
Lexian was as attracted to her as Kyr had been.
“It is an honor to meet you, Wren Marlow.
Your presence here provides hope to all of the Sentinel
Guards.”
“Thank you, Lexian.”
“I have prepared a chamber for you both
below, if you wish to rest. I have been monitoring traffic and
while the Commander has issued a warrant for you, he appears to be
using considerable discretion. There is no mention of Wren in the
warrant. I can only assume then that he wishes her disappearance to
remain quiet.”
“Not my disappearance as much as my
discovery,” Wren said. “It’s better for the Commander if no one
ever realizes that Kyr even found me.”
Lexian nodded his agreement, “That is very
true. The Commander is very aware of appearances and will do
whatever is necessary to maintain the ruse that he has been a loyal
subject to the Core 7 Alliance.”
Wren knew that there were things that Kyr
needed to discuss with Lexian, things that they needed to say to
one another without her interference. The air needed to be cleared
before the three of them could proceed. She kissed Kyr lightly on
the lips, opening her mind to him, showing him precisely what she
wanted. When she backed away, she said, “I am not all that tired,
but I would very much like a shower.”
“Of course,” Lexian said, and showed her to
the small corridor off the main room. “Your room is the second on
the left. You simply have to press your thumb to the keypad on the
left and it will open.”
Kyr watched her walk away stunned by the gift
he’d just been given. He turned back to Lexian, “She knows about
us.”
Lexian looked at him sharply, raising a
golden brow in surprise. “Initially it had been agreed that we
would not tell any of the recovered mates about those
relationships, that it might impact their ability to accept
us.”
Kyr sat down, resting his hands on his knees.
“Wren’s telepathic abilities are remarkable. Even without the
training that she should have received, she is very skilled. I
think any attempts to hide information from any of the mates that
we are lucky enough to recover would be foolhardy. At this point,
honesty will be the best policy.”
Lexian leaned against the wall, crossing his
arms over his chest. “Has that made things difficult between the
two of you?”
“No. It hasn’t. We forgot that our mates have
been engineered to be perfect for us in every way, including having
compatible desires.” Kyr paused. “It isn’t just that she knows,
Lexian. She’s seen it in my memories... every graphic and explicit
detail. She feels what I feel and knows what I know. Including the
pleasure that you’ve given me.”
“That is remarkable.... both the ability and
her acceptance of us. While attitudes on Earth are changing
rapidly, many women raised there would not be so forgiving of our
desires. You are a lucky man.”
“Perhaps we can both be lucky men. Wren has
also expressed a certain amount of curiosity... about being with us
both.”
Lexian couldn’t immediately formulate the
questions that were swirling in his mind. Finally, he managed to
ask, “Are you suggesting that she would not mind sharing?”
“What he’s suggesting,” Wren said,
approaching from behind, wearing nothing but a simple robe that had
been left in their room for her, “Is that I am very interested in
being with both of you... together.”
Lexian
