desperation. My legs buckle, but he holds me up, fucking me even harder. He stiffens behind me on a roar and collapses over my back. I lay there with my chest pressed against the sofa, Kaden’s hot, sweat slick body against my back and his dick still in my arse.
He’s become everything I wanted him to be, and this is the last time I’ll see him.

I knock on the door to the office and wait. “Come in!”
I open the door and find Thor sitting at his desk. “Hey. Just came to get my schedule.”
He nods and goes back to reading the piece of paper in his hand. I pick up the schedule with my name on it and skim over it. I frown and look at the desk to check I haven’t picked up the wrong one. “I think there’s a mistake on this.” I hold it up and turn to face Thor. He puts his reading down and braces his elbows on the desk. His massive arms strain against his shirt in a way that always makes me think he’s about to hulk out of it. “SJ doesn’t make mistakes.” He says flatly.
I walk over to his desk and put the schedule down on it, jabbing my finger against the paper. “I see Melanie Myers three times a week. She’s not on here.”
He clears his throat and lifts his intimidating gaze to mine, or at least usually I’d find it intimidating, not so much any more. “Melanie Myers called three days ago and said she will no longer be requiring your services.”
What? Melanie doesn’t want to see me anymore? What the fuck? She was the one who told me constantly to take what I want, to step up, and what…now she doesn’t like it. I know she’s a client, and I know to her I’m nothing more than a product she paid for, but I can’t help but feel oddly betrayed. She didn’t even tell me.
“Don’t take it personally, kid.” When I look up at Thor he has his chin resting on his clasped hands, watching me carefully. “It’s just business.”
    “I…I know.”
He tilts his head to the side. “Do you? Because the look on your face right now suggests otherwise.” I frown and try to school my expression, hardening it the exact same way Mel does. He huffs a laugh under his breath. “You’ve changed, kid. It’s the women who change you that are the hardest to let go of. I should know.” Of course he does. Poppy.
“It’s not like that.” He cocks a brow and I know, he knows exactly what it’s like. He always does, it’s what makes him so damn good. “I have to go.”
I leave without talking to anyone. When I get in my car, I sit there for a moment, trying to work out while I feel so fucking shit about this. I rub my hand over my chest where an ache has settled deep between my ribs. She’s a client. She paid me and now she no longer wants to pay me. It should be simple, so why isn’t it? Melanie shaped me into something she wanted, so then why bail? I thought this was what she wanted me to be. Anger mixes with a fissure of betrayal that I know I have no right to feel.
I clutch my phone in my hand, staring at it for long moments before I pull her name up on the screen. My finger lingers over the call button before I press it and put the phone to my ear. Thor would kill me, but I just need to talk to her. I feel like an idiot, but I can’t help myself. The phone rings a couple of times before she picks up.
    “Kaden.” She sounds almost resigned.
“You didn’t think to tell me?” My voice is sharper than I intended.
“What is it you’re upset about, the loss of money?” She says coldly.
    “No, you know it’s not.”
“You shouldn’t get attached in your line of work, Kaden.” She tuts.
    “I’m not…”
“And even if you weren’t an escort, you shouldn’t get attached to women like me.”
    “What does that even mean?”
“It means that you don’t need me anymore. I’ve taught you everything I can. You’ve fulfilled my fantasy and I can’t buy what you can no longer sell.”
    “That’s your fantasy?” I ask.
She lets out a small laugh. “Turning you into a
