La Promesse (The Promise)
Chapter 1
M y lips are swollen and tender. There hasn’t been more than an inch between us since your arrival but, still, I kiss you. My need for you startles me. I could subsist on nothing but your mouth on mine.
We’ve fallen onto the bed in a tangle of lips and limbs, too anxious to even remove our clothing. God, how my hands shook when I tried to open the buttons of your shirt. I still hear a tremor in your shallow breaths.
The moonlight pouring in from the window casts cerulean shadows over everything, rendering it dreamlike. It’s too dark to see anything but your silhouette against the crumpled duvet, but I feel your gaze on me like a caress.
I must be dreaming to be here with you like this.
A year after our chance meeting in a crowded Parisian bar, we’re here in my city. Philadelphia. A world away from yours, our two worlds collide. A year of email, instant-messaging, and video chat has brought us to this moment.
    You.
    Here.
    In the flesh.
The possessive brush of your hands over my bare arms sends me spinning.
“I can’t believe it either, darling.”
We’re whispering, but I don't know why. We’re alone and not likely to disturb anyone should we let out what we're both holding in. The passion of new lovers. It’s a long-anticipated reunion of kindred spirits and we're both smiling like school kids.
I knew it would be like this, somehow. We are opposites, physically - you with your tanned skin and midnight eyes. Your knowing smile and rough, but tender hands.
You with your adventurous spirit and boundless curiosity. You’ve walked this earth a bit longer than I and, somehow, I find safety in that. I like our contrasts. My tawny complexion against your honeyed tones, my innocence next to your experience. You could teach me so much, and I want to learn it from your lips.
    "So soft."
The tiny hairs on my arm move with the breath of your words. A shiver starts at the base of my neck and travels down my spine. Tracing the dripping neckline of my dress, your fingertips follow as if giving chase. You should know you'll always win.
We resume our kisses between smiles. You make me feel desirable, and not just because you breathe “I want you” so often that my blush is permanent.
The breeze from the window caresses my back. You pull me closer, and I forget what air is. There’s an urgency that creeps into our contact. Hunger takes over, replacing the initial nerves. You’re changing right before me. I can't see your eyes but I feel them burning into me. I hear the low growl in your throat as you bend your lips to mine, depositing searing kisses that leave me breathless. My God, how I want you.
    "Want you, princess."
Our clothing finally falls away and I can't touch you enough. Your skin is velvet under my hands, warm and alive. Your body hard, as a man's body should be. Sinewy and enticing. Strong and supple. You’re a fantasy.
I want to taste you, so I lean in and lap at one flat nipple. It hardens against my tongue. You groan low and it is music to my ears.
You cup my breasts in your hands, and suddenly it is my turn to show my appreciation. Your fingers are deft and I spill into them eagerly. You try to turn me, to lay me down, but I resist. I have other things in mind.
To show you my intent, I drop my hand to your waist and take you into my careful custody.
    Hard like steel. Harder.
    Covered in the finest silk.
You’re so sensitive. You inhale sharply at the first contact and sit on the edge of the bed, unable to stand. I smile against your thigh, loving your loss of control, and drop to my knees on the carpet before you. I can't wait any longer, and you've given up on any protests. You’re as eager for this as I am. And nothing could keep me from having you finally.
    "Mon Dieu..."
Yes, call him. I envelop you and we're both in heaven. The sounds you make only fuel my desire to take you to the edge and bring you back over and over. But this isn't going to last long. I’m too ravenous
