starts, but I interrupt her right away.
“No. I want a full-size fridge. And the bed needs to be queen size, if not king. Oh, and make sure it’s one of those pillowy top ones too,” I add in at the last minute. I’m sure Rose would love one of those. Maybe it will feel like she’s sleeping on a cloud.
“Oh, um, sure. Yeah, I can do that,” Dani replies, though I can tell she’s confused, but I’m not explaining shit. Not yet anyway.
“Is there anything else I should pick up?” I think about that for a minute, but then realize I have no idea what a woman would want in her room. Aside from taking a bitch to bed, fucking her till she passes out, and then kicking her out before dawn, I have no idea what a woman would want aside from the necessities.
“Whatever else you think the room needs. I just want it to be comfortable and not look like a room that’s inside a clubhouse.” I know that may be impossible, but God dammit, I’m gonna try to hide that fact from her. At least visually inside that one room.
“Gotcha. I’ll get right on this,” she says, seeming to know exactly what I want even if I don’t really know it myself.
“I need this done before I get home. I don’t care what it costs, just get it done,” I add. I want to be able to see it before Rose does. That way if I need to make any last minute changes or get anything else, I can before she arrives.
“Ten-four. Roger that,” Dani says before hanging up the phone.
Placing my phone back on the nightstand beside the bed, I close my eyes and wait for the hour to end and I’ll be able to finally go home. But mostly to make the time go faster before I see Rose again.

A half hour later, Rose steps into my room and hands me a single sheet of paper. She doesn’t say anything, just hands it to me, and then walks back out the door saying she’ll be ready and waiting at her place by nine tonight before she’s gone again.
Opening the piece of paper, written on a prescription pad is what I assume is her address, her phone number, and what looks like her bank account number. It’s all written in a feminine hand, but with a sense of urgency. I guess you’ll have that when you’re a nurse and having to do one hundred different things at once.
I’m actually a little surprised to see she wrote out her bank information though. She had no problem giving it to me or even worried that someone besides me would get a hold of it since it’s all here on a single piece of paper. I’m going to have to talk to her about safety and not giving her information so freely to people. It pisses me off and I’m scared for her, but at the same time, it makes me feel like the king of the world knowing she trusts me with her sensitive information.
Ten minutes after that, in walks Dr. Yorkshire, followed by my brothers: Blaze, Toby, Jax, Louie, TomTom, and Tyke.
“Well, Mr. DeVin, it looks like you’re all set to go. Do you have any questions for me?” Dr. Yorkshire asks, standing at the end of my bed.
Smiling almost giddily, I shake my head. “Nope,” I say, popping the P at the end.
“Alrighty then. All your paperwork is done. I’ll have a nurse come in to help you get dressed and bring in your wheelchair. We’ll bill your insurance for your stay and the wheelchair, so you don’t have to worry about any of that.” He hands Blaze the discharge papers.
“Everything is set up for Nurse Rose to continue your care for the next few weeks. I want to see you back in a month for a re-evaluation. We’ll see how your progress is and decide what needs to happen moving forward. I’ve already made the appointment for you…it’s all in your discharge papers.” He points to the paperwork he handed to Blaze moments ago. “You’re in good hands, Mr. DeVin. I have no doubt you’ll be walking in no time with the help of Nurse Rose.” He sounds encouraging, but the sneer on his face suggests otherwise. He’s not happy that Rose will be coming
