Chapter One

There was nothing quite like a long, hot bath after several days of marathon sex.
Aurelia Gilson stretched her long legs and yawned, slipping a fraction deeper into the lilac scented water of her bath. Curls of steam drifted from the water’s surface, and flower petals swirled about her shoulders and knees as she sunk down into the massive claw foot tub. She wiggled her toes and sighed, appreciating the bath’s rejuvenating effects.
Cocking her head, Aurelia admired the vibrant colors of the tattoos that adorned her upper arms, ribs, hips, and thighs. Even the tops of her feet were adorned, all seamless and high-quality work by some of the world’s best tattoo artists. She smiled at her beloved artwork, sinking back in the tub.
She was pretty sure that no one in history had ever appreciated a Monday morning as much as she was, currently. The weekend had been both rocky and magnificent; one minute she’d been pulled off the street in India and flown back to the States, the next minute she’d been running full-out in her wolf form in the gorgeous forests surrounding Asheville, N.C. Not to mention falling half in love with an insanely hot and sexually insatiable werewolf. That bit was important, too.
Aurelia was still a little in shock over the fact that billionaire Lucas Kiern had basically kidnapped her, dragged her back to the States, and made her an offer she couldn’t refuse. In exchange for a year of her companionship, Lucas had offered to take care of Aurelia’s pages-long rap sheet of cyber crime warrants, plus protect her family from any fallout that Aurelia might have incurred. Oh, and he was paying her a boatload of cash, too. The contract, inked just days ago, had probably literally saved Aurelia’s life.
Her wolf stirred, letting Aurelia know just how pleased she was with this arrangement. Though Aurelia had only been with alpha wolf Lucas for a short time, her wolf was ready to roll over and beg Lucas to take her as a mate, knock her up, and keep her forever.
Aurelia rolled her eyes, telling her wolf to put a sock in it. Sure, Lucas had turned on the charm this week; he’d already given her several letters from foreign justice departments that announced the dropping of any charges in her name. He’d quizzed her about her likes and dislikes down to the tiniest detail, asked every question that he hadn’t already answered before she’d arrived.
Thus the lilacs in her bath water, the giant stainless refrigerator downstairs filled with her favorite juice (apple, spinach, kale, and lemon, not something you could just pick up at the store) and snacks, the fact that the gorgeous bathroom she was in now had been repainted a bright canary yellow because she’d mentioned that she favored the color…
And the tiny detail that she’d woken up alone, but with a stunning diamond necklace around her neck. The necklace was heavy enough that Aurelia didn’t even want to guess what it had cost. She’d jumped out of bed, thrown on one of Lucas’s t-shirts, and had gone in search of answers. Lucas, of course, was nowhere to be found.
She’d giggled to herself when she realized she would simply have to make do with making a french press full of this fantastic coffee Lucas imported from Peru and lying on one of the giant couches while binge-watching an old season of America’s Next Top Model. All while wearing a hundred thousand dollars’ worth of diamonds.
Then came the real blow, when she’d wandered into her room and found a brand new Mac laptop with a note that simply read, “ Open me ”. When she’d booted up the laptop, a video chat window had popped up and automatically connected her with her brother Edgar.
Edgar, whom she deeply loved but hadn’t spoken to in over three years. She’d had to cut their ties in order to protect him from all the blowblack when she’d managed to piss off the Saudis, New Zealand, and all of Interpol in a single week by hacking a massive
