as he could muster, trying to knock him out cold. Chance flopped onto the mat, dazed pretty damn good from the shot to the head and he thought he might actually pass out. He couldn’t believe that Tomas Jones might have just knocked him out.

“ One! … Two! … Three! … ” Chance could faintly hear the referee saying over the mixed reaction of the crowd. Some people cheered while others booed but as Chance’s blurry vision began to refocus he found himself staring right out at Emery in the crowd, “ Seven! … Eight! … ”

Chance forced himself up, looking back out to the crowd to make sure he hadn’t just been seeing things and actually saw Emery. He was so glad to see her but for that slight and very vital moment, he forgot about Tomas Jones. Just as he remembered and turned around he got blasted in his face with about the strongest punch he ever felt. As he fell back everything went black and the next thing Chance knew he could barely hear the announcer announcing Tomas Jones’ victory by knockout but still Emery was what was more important to him. He looked out and Emery was right there at ringside.

“I… I’m in love with you Emery… ahh…” Chance said before he passed out from the knock to the head.

Emery teared up as they maneuvered Chance onto a stretcher and brought him to the back. It was standard procedure for knockouts but she still worried about him. She was filled with joy to know that he cared about her but at the same time she knew they couldn’t be together. She headed out towards the lobby area, waiting for the majority of fans to leave before she tried to get backstage access to go see Chance.

“Ma’am?” A security guard asked as he walked up to her. He was a quite buff black guy that looked like he could break that Tomas Jones in two, “Mr. Fowler sent us to get you. Would you come with us?”

“Yes please.” Emery said with a smile, feeling special as she got a security escort to Chance’s room. When she walked in she found him still getting doctors treatment but was just at the very end of it, “How are you feeling?”

“I’m fine.” Chance replied, “How are you feeling? You’re the last person I expected to see here tonight.”

“Yeah? I saw the commercial and headed here right away.” Emery said with a smile, realizing she couldn’t help but feel happy when she was around chance but it wasn’t just happiness, she wanted to be with him, “I never got to see you fight. I didn’t even know you fought until now.”

“Yeah, remember the fight we were watching in Vegas? That Tom Jones guy was one of the fighters I was watching, studying his moves. It didn’t help much; he’s just vicious.” Chance replied as his doctors left and gave them the room to themselves, “Look, I say we just hangout after this. Maybe go get a beer, or, well, no.”

“Yeah.” Emery said, catching Chance off guard, “Let’s go grab a beer after this.”

“But…” Chance stammered, looking up at her wide-eyed.

“I can’t help the way I feel. I want to be with you. I say we spend the next few days trying to figure out if we just lust for each other or if…”

“If we’re in love? ” Chance asked, realizing he had mumbled that he loved her in the ring, “I… I told you I loved you, didn’t I?”

“Yes, you did.” Emery said, feeling blissful inside as she wondered how they would go about being together.

“How do you think our parents or the world will take it?” Chance asked, “The world isn’t all
