employee, from the managers to the lowliest dishwasher, could drop by to air a grievance, ask a question or make a suggestion. The practice paid dividends in efficiency and employee morale. It also got him out of the house while the cleaning crew did their work.
But today Wyatt’s thoughts weren’t just on business. The memory of Leigh in his arms was a smoldering reminder of where he wanted to take this relationship. She’d been right about the pitfalls of a secret affair while Chloe was in the house. Sooner or later the girl was bound to find out. And the discovery that her father was sleeping with the nanny would be a calamity for all concerned.
But there had to be ways around that. After all, he owned a resort with a hotel. The trick would be getting Leigh out of the house for a night. Between her duties with Mikey and Chloe’s raised eyebrows, that was going to be a challenge. But Wyatt had never been one to let difficulties stand in his way. Somehow he would manage this. He wanted some leisurely time to make love to Leigh. And one way or another, he would find it.
He might not be good for the long haul. But at least he knew how to make a woman happy in bed.

“I’m bored!” Chloe flipped through the TV channels and tossed the remote on the floor. “Why can’t I go out with my friends?”
“It’s Wednesday. Your friends are in school.” Leigh glanced up from folding the basket of baby clothes she’d just laundered. “Maybe you can have them here this weekend. Why don’t you ask your father when he gets home?”
“He’ll say no. He wants to keep me locked up like a prisoner.”
“That’s nonsense. He wants to keep you and Mikey safe, that’s all.”
“Well, I don’t need protecting. I’m going crazy in this house. And I don’t have anything to wear! I want to go shopping!”
Leigh sighed. “Give it time, Chloe. Your body’s still getting back to normal. Besides, it’s probably too soon to take Mikey out. He could get sick.”
Muttering, Chloe dragged herself off the sofa and wandered down the stairs. She was probably going to spend some time on the computer in her room. Would Wyatt’s security team be monitoring her internet activity? But that was Wyatt’s problem, Leigh reminded herself. She’d made it clear she wasn’t going to police the girl.
Mikey had gone down for his nap an hour ago. Soon he’d be awake and needing attention. Leigh brushed a stray lock out of her eyes. Her nephew was a precious angel, but tending to his needs was wearing her down.
Chloe hadn’t moved much beyond holding him. When she’d watched Leigh bathe the baby, she’d taken one look at the shriveling umbilical cord and declared that it was “gross.” Maybe Wyatt had the right idea. Chloe still had so much growing up to do—was it fair to Mikey to keep him from an adoptive mother who’d be better prepared to give him everything he needed? But it was too soon to give up. In spite of her immaturity, Leigh could see that Chloe truly did love her baby. For the sake of everyone involved, Leigh knew she had to keep trying.
From Chloe’s room, rap music blasted up the stairs. The noise was loud enough to wake Mikey. Hearing him fuss, Leigh raced down the hall to the nursery. She’d just picked him up when the front doorbell rang.
Tucking the baby into her arms, she made her way downstairs to the entry. As the bell jangled a second time, she reached the door and cautiously opened it.
A middle-aged woman stood on the front porch with two young men behind her. All three were dressed in maroon and silver Wolf Ridge Resort uniforms, complete with ID badges.
“Cleaning crew.” The woman was short and huskily built, with wiry gray curls and a smile that lit her round moon of a face. The smile broadened as she caught sight of the baby. “So that’s the little man! Hello there, Mr. Mikey!”
Leigh’s jaw dropped. Clearly the woman had been talking to Wyatt. “Please come in and get
