map.
âWe have to go past the movie tapes to the end of aisle seven,â Cam said.
Cam started to walk away. Then she came back. She looked at the map, blinked her eyes, and said, â Click. â
âThatâs in case we get lost,â she told Eric. âIâll have a picture of the map stored in my head.â
Cam and Eric walked down aisle seven.
Music was playing throughout the store. Then the music stopped.
âMake Ernie happy,â someone announced. âBuy a CD or tape. Youâll be happy, too, with Ernieâs low, low prices.â
The music started again.
âThe CDs in each department are in alphabetical order,â Cam told Eric.
Cam walked to the end of the aisle. Eric stopped near the middle.
Cam searched for the new Triceratops Pops CD. She couldnât find it.
âLook at this,â Eric said.
He showed Cam a CD.
âItâs the new Ripe Banana Band CD,â Eric said. âThe groupâs music is soft and sweet, just like a ripe banana. I love it.â
Cam closed her eyes and said, â Click. â
âIâm looking at the store map,â she told Eric.
Cam opened her eyes.
âLetâs try aisle four,â she said.
Cam and Eric went to aisle four. But they didnât find any CDs by Triceratops Pops.
âHm,â Cam said. She put her hands on her hips and looked around.
Eric looked, too.
âMaybe he can help us,â Eric said. âHe works here.â
Eric pointed to a tall young man wearing a yellow and green striped jacket. He was in aisle six next to a cart loaded with boxes. He was taking CDs from an open box and putting them on a shelf.
âCould you please tell me where to find the new Triceratops Pops CD?â Cam asked the man.
On the front of the manâs jacket was a name tag that said: HELLO. IâM ERNIEâS HELPER. MY NAME IS JORDAN.
âAisle two. Case five. Top shelf,â Jordan said without turning around. âI put six discs there just a few minutes ago.â
âAisle two? Why aisle two?â Cam asked.
Jordan turned and looked down at Cam and Eric and said slowly, âBecause thatâs where they belong.â
Cam closed her eyes and said â Click â while she walked. Eric held her hand, so she wouldnât walk into anyone.
âHeâs wrong,â Cam said with her eyes still closed. âAisle two is for Country music. Triceratops Pops is not Country.â
Cam opened her eyes. She and Eric found aisle two, case five, top shelf. There was a large empty space on the shelf. But no Triceratops Pops CDs.
Chapter Three
âM aybe Jordan put them on another shelf. Maybe theyâre in another aisle,â Eric said.
Cam closed her eyes and said, â Click. â Then she told Eric, âThere are ten music sections in this store. Weâve already checked Popular, New Releases, and Country. It wonât take long to check the others.â
Cam checked the Show Tunes section. Eric checked Jazz. Then Cam checked Classical and Rap. Eric checked Easy Listening, Rhythm and Blues, and Specialty Recordings. They didnât find the Triceratops Pops CDs.
âLetâs ask Jordan,â Cam said. âHe put the CDs on the shelf. Maybe he can find them.â
Jordan was still in aisle six. A woman was talking to him.
âIâm looking for a tape. My daughter asked me to get it for her and I said, âThatâs just what Iâll do.â The tape is called Cupcake Love , or Cup Lake Glove , or Pups Above . Iâm sure you know the one I mean.â
Jordan said very slowly, âI donât know what youâre talking about.â
The woman smiled. âIâll tell you about the people who made the tape. Thatâs just what Iâll do. It was a group called Teacher Creature or Fixture Mixture or Peach and Picture.â
Jordan looked at the woman for a long while. Then he said slowly, âYou want me to find a
