exotic animals.”
Al had dollar signs in his eyes. Kayley knew that if Tyler could have a show around the conservation center that donations would flood in from the viewers. He could renovate all of the cages and grounds. Maybe even expand the center.
“People love exotic animals,” Al said nodding his head. “You two together would make perfect hosts.”
Kayley held in a scream of joy and nodded her head nonchalantly.
Tyler backed the truck into the elk’s temporary home and lowered the ramp to the ground. The elk, that they named Ollie, would stay in the center for about four to five weeks until the bullet wound in his thigh healed. Then he would be released back into the wild.
Tyler checked the bandages one last time and then leaped off the truck like a cat. He looked up at her and smiled. She couldn’t help but smile back. Kayley was really enjoying getting to know Tyler. She hadn’t been this optimistic about love in a long time. He closed the gate behind him and walked to her side. Their hands met. Their fingers entangled each other, as if they belonged to the same hand. He stroked her thumb with his and Kayley smiled.
The truck started to bounce and sway as Ollie began to wake up from the drugs. He swung his legs and bounced up, standing in the back of the pickup truck. He looked around confused and then staggered down the ramp. He wandered around the large fenced area.
“Enjoy your new home,” she said.
Tyler smiled and gave her a kiss. She knew she was going to enjoy hers.
