“Well, I realized this is the last time I am going to see you guys. ” Sam looked back at me, this time with a smile on her face. “We fly out at noon tomorrow and I haven’t thought about that. I had so much fun today. We ’ve n ever done anything like this on tour.” Not knowing if the meaning behind it was they never had fun little side trips on tour or that Sam didn’t take the ti me to meet the girls Alex brought back to the room on tour. “Plus, I’m sure we’ll be seeing each other again.” This time, Sam shot a wink in my direction.
I reach ed over, hugged Sam again, and then I hear d t he elevator doors opening. I knew if we lived closer, Sam wa s someone I would love to be friends with and have in my li fe. She wa s sweet and yet honest, just like Derek and Lexi, well, Derek on a good day.
We all piled in to the elevator and Derek thanked Alex for the lun ch, game and club. Derek then gave Alex his business card as he walk ed off the elevator. “I’ll call you in the morning, Abbs. We ca n do brunch before we head in separate ways”
“ Sounds good, but not before ten, ” I shout ed back as the elevator doors were closing.
Then the elevator stopped at my floor. I smile d at Sam and said good-bye . When I started to say bye to Alex, he wa s already out of the elevator. “What are you doing?”
“I’m being a gentleman and walking you to your room.” Lookin g back at the elevator, he spoke to Sam, “Sammy, I’ll see you in a bit.”
“ I’m sure you will,” I heard, as the elevator doors were closing.

Standing outside my room, I pull ed my room key card out of my clutch. I lean ed against the door and look ed up at Alex. “You know, you didn’t have to walk me to my door. I think I could have managed from the elevator to the hotel room door.”
“Well, I wanted to say bye. You seemed to say bye to Sam, but I was feeling a bit left out.”
“I didn’t mean for that to happen. I guess I wasn’t sure how to say bye to you and by not saying it, I guess I was trying to prolong it a bit.”
“Prolongin g it a bit, I like the sound of that.” Alex reached over, grabbed the key card from my hand, and slid it into the slot. He opened the door and waited for me to enter. I walk ed into the room, not sure what to do next. I had never been in a situation like this. Christ, I hadn’t been single since I was sixteen.
Unsure of what to do, I walk ed in and set my purse down on the dresser by the TV . I tur n ed and saw myself in the mirror. Oh, my freaking god . My eyes look ed like raccoon eyes. Crap, I looked like a hot mess. So much for whatever look I was trying to pull off with the eye make-up. I turn ed to Alex, “Why don’t you have a seat, I need to wash my face real quick.” I walk ed past him and slip ped into the bathroom. I quickly wash ed my face, brush ed my teeth and spray ed a little body spray on. I knew I stu nk from all that dancing. I wanted to take a hot shower, but knew Alex was in the room and I said I was only washing my face.
When I exit ed the bathroom, Alex wa s lying on the bed p ropped up o n a few pill ows with his shirt off. The TV was off and he immediately turned and smiled at me when I step ped out into the small hallway in the room. I couldn ’t help but smile back at him. Inste ad of walking towards him, I took a minute to take all of him in . The lights from the city of Detroit shined in through the hotel window, illuminating him just enough. I look ed at his chiseled chest, toned arm s, six-pack and the tattoos, those that could be made out, covering both his ar ms and chest. I knew
