throat beat in a rapid tattoo of need. His cock jerked in her pussy when she licked his flesh. Small drops of cold moisture landed on her skin. She glanced up to see the snow falling again. His scent: wild animal, sex, and musky man called to the animal inside her.
“Mine,” she growled. Without a second’s hesitation, she bit down on his shoulder, breaking skin.
He fucked her harder, rougher, and with such a desperate edge, she splintered. She let go of his shoulder and screamed. He growled low, his canines embedding in her flesh. Hot semen coated the neck of her womb and filled her with his essence.
They stared at each other for a moment. Cade rubbed her lips with his in a soft kiss. She was still breathless when he lowered her to stand on her feet. Both of her legs buckled, and she almost fell over. He held her for a moment, his grin wide.
He covered her with the blanket again and guided her into the building. When the security man showed up and shut the door behind them, she lowered her gaze. Heat crowded her face, and she wondered if the man had seen them having sex just outside the door.
Cade must’ve sensed her discomfort, because he tried to pacify her while hugging her to his side. “He only gets paid to notice anything that’s dangerous.”
“Yeah.” She snorted. “Because seeing us having sex is definitely not worth noting.”
He shrugged.
“I pay him well enough to ignore whatever he sees,” he said when they entered his elevator.
She saw the intent in his gaze. He wanted more, and hell if she didn’t too. She’d turned into a whore of epic proportions when it came to him. But they needed to talk, and there would be no more toe-curling sex until they cleared the air.
“Where’s Kevin?” She knew the enforcer, from what Jay had told her, never left Cade’s side. He was like his own personal bodyguard. Cade gave her a small smile and opened his mouth to speak when the elevator dinged.
The moment the elevator doors opened on the penthouse, Kevin appeared. She eyed him in his black suit and smiled. “You clean up nice, Kevin.”
He smiled and glanced down her body. “You seem to have lost your clothes.”
She blew a raspberry. “Who needs clothes anyway?”
He laughed. “If I remember correctly, there was this certain woman who said people in New York did not walk around naked.”
What a jerk. He would remember that.
“Yeah, well she must not have met a werewolf on her first shift. We tend to tear through pesky things like clothing. And underwear. And pretty much anything constricting.” She sighed.
Kevin laughed. “Hey, at least you didn’t shift somewhere public, or we’d be seeing photos of you in the news.”
She gasped and knew guilt was written all over her face. “If the security guard says anything to you about seeing something, tell him we got caught up.” Her face heated some more when his grin widened. “Dammit, Kevin. Stop smiling like this is some joke. That poor man saw us having sex!” She slapped a hand over her mouth and glared at Cade. “This is your fault you know.”
“I know.” He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck with his hand.
Kevin gave her a sympathetic smile and stepped into the elevator they had just vacated. “I’ll be on the level below this one if you need me,” he said before the doors closed.
Chapter Nine
Cade watched his mate walk toward him. She lifted curious brows as she glanced around the penthouse. He wondered what she thought of his living arrangements. Nerves twisted his stomach in knots. He’d never cared what a woman thought until now. Even when he’d been engaged to Linda, he hadn’t worried over her likes. It was a given that with his money she’d live comfortably and in luxury, but after the things Brandon had told him about Lili, he was more concerned about her rejecting him because he had money. How fucking ironic.
“Can I get something to wear?” she asked, after having looked around for a
