intention-
ally put ourselves through such misery, loss and the possibility of death when what it really desires is that we become aware of its
light, warmth and love within us? Sometimes we have to go fully
down a path in order to see where it takes us. Those on the other
side often tell their loved ones during sessions, that there was little anyone could do to stop their addiction. Although it may make no
sense the addict relentlessly pursues a false material God in order to ultimately discover the divine power within.
Until we are completely cut off from our spirit we do not fully
understand the magnitude of its importance and irreplaceable
worth. In this same way, we do not know happiness if we have never
felt sadness. We value and embrace the warm days of spring after
the harsh cold winter. Illness makes us honor our health. When
the spirit is denied, repressed and hidden, we are shaken out of our ambivalence. Our suffering eventually wakes us into reluctant but
illuminating awareness. We understand our spirit’s value, its light, wisdom, love and magic. We become motivated to embrace, appreciate and cherish it.
Death Through Addiction
When someone passes over as a result of an overdose or if drugs or
if alcohol was a contributing factor in one’s death, their entry into the light may be delayed. Especially in the case of an overdose, it may take some time to realize that they have died. An addict’s spirit may hover over their body lost in a fog as to what is happening. In some cases, they follow their body long after they have physically
died. In extreme cases they stay stuck in the astral realm. When we pass over, the astral realm is the energy vibration in-between the
heavenly realms of all love and the physical world. When an addict
passes over they are often confused. They are at risk of becoming
wandering and lost spirits who do not always recognize that they
are no longer in the physical body. Their spirit may roam in the as-66 ~ Addictions, Embracing Your Spirit
tral realm attempting to inhabit places where alcohol or the drug of their choice is available or congregate around other addicts or drug and alcohol users.
There are angels and loved ones in spirit who try to assist these
lost souls. They reach out and attempt to guide them into the love
of the heavens. An individual can resist this help and may choose
instead to continue to drift close to the earth in a desire to satisfy their addiction. Eventually though, most willingly accept that they must advance into the light of love where they can heal.
Addiction Lingers After Passing
One of the biggest surprises for people who pass over with active
addictions is that they still crave their drug of choice. The physical body is released from the addiction but the emotional, spiritual and mental addiction does not evaporate upon death. Addicts must still
go through the process of freeing themselves from their reliance
and dependence on their drug of choice. In the light and love of
the heavens there are energy “treatment centers” where these souls
can heal. Here they are given angelic care and attention. This detox period is in some ways similar to detoxing from the physical addiction. Addicts on the other side must however, go through an in-
tense review period where they see, feel and understand how their
addiction affected their soul plan and how it impacted the people
in their lives. This is not an easy process, as the soul must feel at deep levels what others felt as a result of their actions. In the spiritual realm after this review, addicts often return to the emotional state they were in previous to becoming addicted. Loved ones in
spirit who struggled with dependency issues often tell me that they have returned to the emotional age they were before their addiction began. This is essentially when they stopped growing and developing. By returning to this time they are able to work through what-
ever issues they
