not sure who that is.” Kevin looks confused.
“Let me tell you the message.” I said “He is telling me that
he had plenty of money. But, it didn’t make him happy. He was
stressed and fearful when he was here. He held on tight to what he
had. Didn’t share and give, even when others needed help. Now he
doesn’t know why he lived like this.”

“That sounds like my Uncle Bo.” Kevin says. “My mother’s
brother, he had his own insurance company. Made a lot of money,
but he was really stingy. We didn’t know why. When my grand-
mother needed help with her mortgage after my grandfather
died, we all thought he would help her. But, he didn’t and he told
my mother to stop whining and asking for a handout. He always
thought that people were trying to get his money. There was a
rumor that he kept a loaded gun under his bed. He was so sure that
someone would try to rob him. He always lived in fear. I am really
surprised that he is here. We were not very close.”
Uncle Bo is listening intently and ready to continue. “Your
Uncle says that he has to learn from you.” I share with Kevin. “He
says that he does not know how you do it. You give so much away.
You could be saving your money or buying a bigger home, retiring
early. But you give it away. To animals, no less, stray dogs and cats.
The angels like you. Your Uncle says that you can help him to learn how to give.”
“I am glad I can help.” Kevin continues. “We never understood
why Uncle Bo was so unhappy. Tell him that I wish him well and
that I give because it makes me happy.”
Uncle Bo still has more to say. I tell Kevin. “Your Uncle is be-
ginning to feel the joy of giving through you. I get the impression from him that after he passed out of the physical body it took him
a while to leave the earth realm. He shows me his home and things.
He did not want to leave them. I see an older gentleman, maybe
your grandfather, encouraging him to join him in the light of the
heavens. I feel when he finally went into the light he was surprised at how much love and forgiveness he felt. I get the impression that his life review was quite an eye-opener. He experienced his selfish-ness and fear in a very different way. The angels guided him to you to help him to understand how good it feels to give.”
As we ended our session Kevin thanked me, looked at his
watch and told me that he had his afternoon rounds to make in

the mobile unit. The look in his eyes as he said goodbye was one
of strength and renewed motivation. It was a wonderful session for
me too.

Addictions,
Embracing Your Spirit
At some point in the course of your life, you cross paths with
an addict. Whatever he or she may be addicted to is not neces-
sarily important. Whether it is alcohol, drugs, sex, shopping, food, gambling or playing video games, it is their all consuming passion
and the focus of their lives. For the addict, there is little else as important as feeding the need and desire for their drug of choice. A
higher high, a release from the pain, a dulling of the external senses and a false sense of connectedness is what the addict seeks. The addict is relentless in their desire for sensory obsessive pleasure and willingly gives their mind, body and soul over to an external fixa-tion.
The earth school lesson of addiction is a harsh wake-up call
from one’s spirit. When we persistently ignore and place no value
on our spirit, it eventually recedes into the murky recesses of our consciousness. In the all-consuming grip of addiction, the spirit
is deadened, vague and out of reach. The addict is surrounded by
darkness and immersed in material and sensual desire that can
never be fulfilled. This lesson is a difficult one. Yet, a soul elects to purse an addiction in order to experience a profound awakening.
