I love this series. Is one of my favorites! But it did not meet my expectations.
Eva and Gideon have so much history together and the end of the last book of the series was a little disappointing. Do not get me wrong, I enjoyed the book, but I found it very short and I think the author had enough material to go into.
The truth is that I was looking forward to much more!
I'd love for Silvia to do maybe a spin-off series with Cary and Trey; And through them, see a little more of how Eva and Gideon keep things in their marriage.
This is for me the best in the Crossfire series. Gideon and Eva go out on a soaring note (instead of falling flat), and I feel pretty satisfied with where Day ended things.
The one area that I felt was rushed was how the Monica character was dealt with. I felt the investigation into Monica wasn't really organic with the story. And maybe I read these books too quickly, but it seemed like they start to look into her in the last
book. It seemed like this would have been a priority in the beginning even before finding out about Nathan. (But I get the Monica story was buried deeper than the Nathan story) And then her being killed when really Hall was trying to kill Gideon felt a little jarring when we're trying to wrap things up on a happy note. It seems as if that death had one purpose: to make a way to reveal everything about Monica. This whole thing threw me for a loop.
I also felt the Hall/ Anne Lucas plotline was almost unnecessary. It didn't resolve things for those characters, in my mind, but does end the drama there I guess.
I'm looking forward to seeing this on screen whenever Lionsgate decides what they want to do with it. This would make a great HBO or Starz movie series. As I know nothing about the TV/movie industry, I have no idea if that's even possible. But whatever happens, I'd love to see Jason Momoa (Aquaman, Justice League, Stargate Atlantis) play Gideon. He's got the looks, the body, the smoldering presence. Another winner here!v
