âIâm going to take that computer course at Tech. Need refreshing. Also need it to help Tim and Sherry at the office.â She rolled her eyes. âIâm growing more clueless by the hour. Peyton and Ashley have to help me now with lots of the more technical computer stuff.â
âWhen does it start?â Barth reached down to ruffle Brutusâs neck.
âThis week. Begins Thursday. Iâve already registered online.â
A sharp whistle pierced the air and Brutus was up and off the deck in an eyeâs blink.
They both laughed as Brutus joined Billie Jean on her morning run.
âBillie Jeanâs doing great. Sheâs sprinting like an Olympic runner.â Barthâs voice conveyed his awe of the scrappy female fighter.
âYeh.â Seana sighed contentedly. âSheâs something else. Iâve never seen so much courage in my entire life. Never a complaint.â
âAn overcomer.â Barth slowly shook his head in awe. âAnd itâs working, her faith and spirit. The cancerâs in remission.â
âThank God. By the way, would you look at this rash on my face and neck, please? Itâs come back.â
Barth leaned over and peered. âYouâre going to have to get that checked out,â he insisted. âItâs been going on for some time now.â
âI know,â Seana sounded mildly impatient. âItâs not bothering me that much. Just makes me look slightly witchy. But, youâre right. Iâll call Dr. West today for an appointment.â
âCanât be too careful, honey.â He reached over to take her hand in his. âI want my girl to stay healthy.â
âWealthy and wise,â Seana grinned at him when he looked puzzled. âThe rest of the song.â
âMustâve missed that one,â he murmured, turned her palm up and kissed her hand thoroughly, giving Seana delicious goose bumps.
Later that afternoon, she called and scheduled an appointment with her dermatologist. âCome on in tomorrow,â the nurse told her. âSince youâve been having this problem for so long, we need to see you right away.â
Canât be too careful . Barthâs words rang in her head and she smiled. She loved his caring.
Savored it.

âHereâs a prescription for some prednisone. This should knock it out.â Dr. West wrote with his unique flourish and handed the prescription to Seana.
âSo youâre not sure whatâs causing the rash?â Seana tucked the paper in her purse.
âMay be an allergy thing. Without tests, itâs hard to tell. But no need in being hassled any longer. Let me know if you have any more problems.â
Seana left with a lilt in her step. She took a dose of the medication with her lunch.
âAlways safer to take meds on a full stomach,â Barth said as they dined on one of his tasty veggie dishes, a squash and tomato concoction over brown rice, made superb by Barthâs spice skills.
âIâll be glad to get this annoyance behind me,â Seana grumbled, then smacked her lips on the food. âYou outdid yourself, Barth. I usually donât even like this combination.â
âJust fo-uh you, dahlinâ,â he drawled in Southernese that pushed Seanaâs tickle button.
âI know.â She gurgled with laughter. âI bring out the best in you.â
His countenance slid into serious, then warm and affectionate. âThat you do, Seana, my love.â
Seanaâs heart soared.

Computer classes at Tech went well. Only thing, on the third day, when new software was introduced that Timâs real estate office was implementing, Seana began to feel strange and could not remember things the instructor said.
As the day wore on, she grew more and more disturbed. The words seemed to go in one ear and out the other. There was no pause inside her brain, not
