or both of them.
It was a silent walk home for the Jensen
boys, each lost in their own thoughts. They employed every stealth tactic they
had developed over the years as they snuck into the house, up the stairs and to
their room and equally as silently undressed and slipped into their respective
beds.
Paul sighed as the cool covers touched his
back: “Well that was......”
    “Fucking awesome.” Matt finished.
“Dude, you need to get out more.” Paul
chuckled.

Chapter Six

Three very long, very busy days followed
accompanied by fun filled evenings which rarely saw either boy at home for more
than half an hour. Paul had been up to his eyes estimating for new jobs, a
direct result of all the free publicity he received courtesy of the paparazzi.
Matt was slowly but surely taking on more of his father’s workload and was
spending many more hours than usual at the office.
By mid week, both boys were more than up
for letting off steam in a big way and, having arranged a lighter than usual
workload for the following day, smartened themselves up, looking and smelling
irresistible, they met up with several of Matt’s friends and a few of Paul’s
and hit the town.
Over two very short hours, vast amounts of
alcohol had been consumed and lots of fun had been enjoyed but was sadly short
lived as the usual good natured banter between the two groups of friends deteriorated
into insults and name calling with Matt siding with his friends and Paul doing
the same, the two brothers went head to head in the defence of their respective
compadres.
The resulting scuffle was a rare
occurrence as Paul and Matt tended to air their differences behind closed
doors, never in public and the ferocity with which they attacked each other
stunned their friends into momentary silence before all hell broke loose and
the two groups of friends descended on the brothers in an attempt to separate
them.
Multiple hands grasped each brother and
the battle to separate them began amidst shouting and heaving. All the while
Matt and Paul managed to continue to rein blows on each other, snarling like
feral animals. The attempts to pull them apart came to an abrupt halt at the
sound of sirens and blue flashing lights and the group of friends stood back as
two large police officers stepped out of their vehicle and into the throng.
The split second their arms were free, the
brothers launched themselves at each other again. Now the fight had nothing to
do with the defence of their friends, now it was all about old rivalries
between them and the favouritism shown by their father to one and not the
other. Both boys were bruised, clothing ripped by the time the police officers
once again dragged them apart.
Matt winced as his arms were hauled behind
his back and cuffs were tightened around his wrists, he looked up to see the
same happening to Paul.
“Get your hands off my brother.” Paul
snarled at the officer holding him when he saw Matt’s discomfort and he began
to struggle again.
“You mean the brother you were just trying
to beat the hell out of?” The officer asked, holding the boy tightly, mildly
amused at the complete about turn at the direction of his anger.
The comment pulled Paul up sharp when he
realised the insensibility of his actions. Directing his rage at Matt had been
stupid, he wasn’t angry at Matt or the things he had said to his friends.
Testosterone mixed with alcohol and the lack of female company had ignited a
spark he hadn’t known existed.
“Sorry Matt.” He met his brothers’ eyes
over the distance that separated them.
“Yeah, me too.” Matt also had realised the
error of his ways and both boys were now somewhat subdued.
“Isn’t that nice? One officer said to the
other, “They’re sorry.”
“Very sweet.” The second officer answered
then leant closer to Paul “You’re still being arrested though.” He smiled and
gestured to his colleague that it was time to put the teenagers into the car.
