Drakon go? He was there one moment and gone the next.”
“He has powers we cannot even conceive of. He seems to be able to move his body at will. He did not hurt you?” asked Loki.
“No. He said he’d heard of you and your men helping us from our faltering ship, and since their female population is in jeopardy of becoming extinct, he wanted to find out all about the females of Earth. He let me read his mind. Oh my God. The knowledge he handed over to me without any hesitation is unbelievable. He wanted me to be sure it was safe to give him information regarding planet Earth and let me read his mind first. He wants to be able to find females for the males on their planet to mate with. His race has to drink blood to survive. The powers they have, I could not fathom even half of them. He asked to read my mind, as it would be a much faster way for him to gather the information he needed, so I let him. I’m sorry. I must have fallen asleep. I don’t remember much after that.”
“You took a great risk letting a stranger into your mind, Jessamine. You had no idea whether you were putting yourself in danger. I should put you over my knee and tan your ass for such behavior,” Hakon said from her side.
Jess bolted upright and turned her head to glare at Hakon. “Excuse me. What did you just say? No, don’t repeat it. That was a rhetorical question. Who the hell do you think you are? You have the audacity to tell me what I can and can’t do? Well, screw you, buddy.”
Jess got to her feet and was about to step over the ass beside her and off the bed. She didn’t get to move. Four large hands clamped around her ankles and wrists, and she found herself flat on her back with Hakon and Dagr looming over her. They were both shooting daggers at her. Oh boy, she was in deep shit.
“Do you have any idea of the hell you put us through? No, you couldn’t have, you slept through it all. That bastard was still in your mind, downloading information from your memories. You didn’t move the whole time he was in there. I can’t believe you let a stranger into your head, and yet you have built a mental barrier to keep us, your bond mates, out. Why, Jessamine? Why would you do that?” Hakon asked.
Jess could hear the pain in his voice and knew she had hurt Hakon and his brothers with her actions. She closed her eyes to shut him out. She wanted to explain why she felt more comfortable with a stranger in her mind rather than the three men whom she had bonded with. But to do so would let them see how much they were coming to mean to her. She didn’t want them to know she was already falling in love with them. She’d only known them for such a short period of time. How the hell could she explain that she felt vulnerable at the thought of them having access to her emotions and thoughts? They wouldn’t understand.
She’d always felt insecure, never fitting in, and because her mom hadn’t had the money to have her DNA adjusted like her acquaintances, she had always felt like she was standing on the outside looking in. She’d never felt good enough to participate with the other girls as they whispered and giggled over boys, swapping clothes because they were all the same petite size. She had always felt left out since she was too different with her fiery red hair and voluptuous hourglass figure. She opened her eyes to see Hakon and Dagr staring down at her and slid her gaze down to Loki to see a sad smile on his face. She felt like such a bitch, but she didn’t want to open up to them yet. She felt too raw, too needy, and didn’t know how to deal with her feelings. She’d never felt this way in her life, and to open herself up to the three Sigmund brothers now, so soon, when she’d really only just met them, wasn’t something she was willing to do.
“I’m sorry if I’ve hurt you,” Jess began, looking at Hakon. “That was never my intention. I don’t know you very well either, so how can you expect me to just accept
