hadn’t had since her parents had died. She was still worried about her brother finding her. But she was more worried that if he did, and she knew he would, her mates would be hurt. She spent every weekday working on the books at the club as Jake and Devon tended to the bar, and she really loved her work, but she was restless.
Keira had found out from her mates that her brother was involved with an illegal prostitution ring. To know that the brother she loved and thought she knew was kidnapping innocent women off the streets of Seattle and selling them to the mob was more than she could bear to comprehend. To think of the way she had tried to ingratiate herself to him and win his love like a good sister should, turned her stomach.
Jake had told her that everyone in the pack was on full alert and had been given a photo of her brother. So she knew if David was spotted in the town of Aztec they would have her locked away in the pack house for her own safety. Devon had been in contact with the police in Seattle, and they were apparently watching her brother and his cohorts. Now that she thought it over, she knew Devon would have told the police in Seattle where she was. That didn’t sit well with her, but she didn’t know why.
Keira rose from her chair behind the desk and walked out into the hall of the club. She made her way toward the bar, needing to see her mates. She sat on a stool and waited for Devon or Jake to come to her. She needed a drink and a break anyway, so she sat ogling her men. They were so sexy. Every time she laid eyes on them, her cunt would gush with desire and her heart would fill with emotion.
The door to the club opened, and she saw a tall, lithe man walk up to the bar. He was just over six feet, but he didn’t have the muscle her men did. She felt his eyes slide over her, and she shivered with revulsion as his gray eyes connected with hers. She looked away and wanted to leave the room, but she wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of knowing he gave her the willies.
He sat on the stool next to her and wanted to recoil as his scent enveloped her. She sighed with relief when her gentle but dominant giant stood opposite her.
“What can I get you, sweetness?” Devon asked.
Keira was grateful when he reached over and threaded his fingers through hers, a definite sign for the guy next to her that she was off the market.
“Can I have a sparkling water, please, honey?” Keira asked.
“You can have anything you like, darlin’,” Devon replied and gave her a sexy wink.
He withdrew his hand from hers and went to get her drink.
“Excuse me, you obviously live here. I was wondering if you could tell me the best place to stay in town.”
Keira turned to the man beside her as he spoke. She couldn’t contain a shiver of fear traveling the length of her spine as she looked into his cold eyes. He thin lips had formed a smile, but that smile didn’t reach his eyes.
“Here you go, sweet,” Devon interrupted as he placed her fizzy water on the bar in front of her. “I couldn’t help overhearing you’re looking for somewhere to stay, Mr.…”
“Yeah, sorry. The name’s John Carmichael. And you are?”
“Devon Domain. The best place would be the motel down the end of this street. It’s the only place in Aztec you can hire a room to spend the night. Are you on holiday?”
“No. Well, sort of. I’m here on business and depending on how that goes, I may stay a few days,” John supplied. “You have a nice, quiet little town here. I can see the appeal after living in the city for so long.”
“Where are you from?” Devon asked curiously.
    “Washington State,” John replied.
“I’m going to get back to work, Devon,” Keira said and slid off her stool. She left the bar and shivered as she felt that man’s eyes on her. She didn’t like him one little bit. And the fact that he was from Washington had the hair on her nape prickling with warning.
Keira had just sat down at her desk
